Just sharing a story. I witnessed this as a child. We were on a family hunting trip with several male relatives. We were hunting deer in the MT prairie. My Dad was shooting a lever action Savage in .308 with a Pe Car Berlin scope (sp?). We came upon a herd of deer. They ran from our left to right. My Dad shot at one and then a hill blocked our view they were running behind. My Dad got what he thought was the same deer in his sights on the other side of the hill and shot at him. He dropped. Our large family of hunters walked down to the kill and we found that my Dad shot the first deer that died behind the hill we could not see and then he shot and killed another deer that ran out from the hill. My Dad was a deer shooting machine and that .308 scoped Savage was a deer dropper even when they were on the run. Thanks giving me the platform to share this old memory!
Some of those would make great 'bug out' guns. Gotta get me one......after I get out of Kalifornia this year. I ain't paying them suckas an 11% excise tax!!!! During the Cold War, in Germany, we had to shoot out M16A1 standing, for the first 21 rounds, out of 40, iron sights, to 200 meters. Didn't miss nary a pop up target......I was on "the jazz" that day. I missed 2, 300 meter targets in the prone position. My H&R M16A1 had one "smoov" trigger group! 😁😁😁
As usual, good video. I like my old 1894 marlin. Took a couple of hogs and deer with it. I bought a Henry Big Boy in 44 Magnum. I also have a Henry 45/70 and a 1895 Marlin guide gun. I like my lever guns. You portrayed the lever guns well. Thanks
I'm partial to the Marlin 336 and 1895. My favorite of all was the .35 Remington. Henry has come out now with their Lever Action Supreme Rifle in .300 Blackout and 5.56/.223 that takes regular AR mags(for the less than free states).
Heck yeah Adam that looked like an extremely fun day at the range. You already know that I am excited about my Rossi R95 in 360 Buckhammer. I have shot about half a box of 200 grain REM Core Lokt. I am not that great with buckhorn sights. But I want to keep it slim and light. I might try this smaller Crimson Trace red dot I bought before I go to a small scope like a 2-7 or LPVO. I recently listened to a Backcountry Hunting podcast with the guy from Timney who’s from my home state of West Virginia. Pretty cool that they make triggers for lever guns. 🤠
The last one i owned was a 16"bbl Rossi Stainless steel R92 in 357mag.,. Sold it last year and will get a 454c one later My very favorite one that I own briefly but was so nice it gave me the willies to actually take it out and use was it Winchester reproduction 1895 405 Winchester Big medicine standard edition. I also enjoyed the older Marlin 336 model before they decided to install the idiot switches for a safety. Sorry if that makes some people upset.
I never had a miss feed on the three Winchester 94 rifles I used. Admittedly the oldest one was stiff to operate and hurt my hand despite being reliable. The marlin I knew about would miss feed though, as would the Winchester 92. A miss feed would be fatal on bears or moose.
I'm a big fan of lever gun! I have in my garage a Marlin 1895 ''guide gun'' in 45-70 Govt caliber et a Rossi 45 Colt lever action ..., I'm a reloader i shoot a lot with that guns. I have fun with 145 Grain Lyman "Collar Button" that i mold myself for my Guide Gun. No scope in my Lever guns ''only Peep Sight''.
I got the exact same rifle in .30-30. I slapped on a Marlin pattern picatinny rail on mine, and bought a cheap BSA 3-9x36 to put on it. I was able to get ~1" groups at 100 yards with the setup with cheap herters .30-30. Not bad for a lever gun.
Which one is your favorite lever gun? And I think you should do some longer rang on a deer target like that. Gives a different perspective! Great videos bud!
Good woods gun but nothing beats a good bolt gun for long range accuracy. May be fine to 100 yards iron sights for most but not a great scope gun either. I have a .35 Rem Marlin 336 and a Winchester 30-30, and they are good as I described. Not worth crap for anything else.
You don’t buy leverguns for long range accuracy. Just like you don’t buy a long range rifle for brush work. But the 45-70 was the first cartridge to shoot a mile (and farther) at Sandy Hook in 1879. Leverguns and bolt guns are two different breeds. But if you actually learn your rifle and how to adjust for large amounts of windage and elevation because the BC’s are garbage, you can 100% shoot long range with them. And have a lot of fun doing it.
Except for the optics these are just Emperor’s New Clothes. Same caliber’s…just new colors and finishes. Lead sled nah ha ha ha. Any self respecting leaver guy shoots off hand
Premiere?! Why? Do you potentially benefit from this? I personally can’t stand any of my favorites doing this delay stuff. I try to sleep at 8! Wake 3:30. I won’t be there on the edge of my seat. See ya tomorrow.

For thick timber hunting and relatively short ranges, nothing beats a good lever gun.
Holy crap. Timney makes marlin triggers. My 1895 GS is about to get a huge upgrade.
I suppose the big advantage of a lever gun over a bolt gun is the capacity is typically higher, which is cool.
Good ol over priced Lever guns , used to be able to pick them up for cheap at the pawnshops , but not anymore , still gotta love them ..
Great looking lever guns looks like fun👍
I like my inherited Savage 99 in 308
The Marlin stainless with gray stock. Is one awesome looking gun.
That 30-30 didn't even move when you shot it!

Lever actions are very nice ! First center fire rifle I shot was a 3030 marlin at 10yro

And still the Savage 99 is ahead of the times.
Sweet video WTW! I have Winchester model 94 30-30 that my grandpa gave me

Awesome! But I’m strictly an iron sights guy with a lever gun! 👀

👍WTW 94 Winchester pre 64.
Thanks
I enjoyed this video. I hope you sight them in properly before your next video w/ these rifles.
Thanks WHO_TEE_WHO 👋
When does the video start?
I’ve got a Rossi r95 in 444 Marlin , serious power . How does one pick out a scope for this kind of rifle ?
I got the exact same rifle in .30-30. I slapped on a Marlin pattern picatinny rail on mine, and bought a cheap BSA 3-9x36 to put on it. I was able to get ~1" groups at 100 yards with the setup with cheap herters .30-30. Not bad for a lever gun.
Get a scope with a warranty, good warranty. No saving receipts. It broke, you did it warranty. Leupold, Vortex.

I've yet to find a general purpose rifle that I like better than my Savage 99 featherweight in 308.
Taylor TC73 1873 Winchester
The first American made

Where's the Big Horn 500 S&W?
